BRIEF OVERVIEW
Aileen (Lee) Carol Wuornos, labelled by the FBI and known through the media as America's first female serial killer, was allegedly responsible for the deaths of seven men while working as a prostitute along highways throughout Central and North Florida between 1989 and 1990. Wuornos was convicted on six counts of 1st degree murder, and was sentenced to death. She died by lethal injection at the age of 46 on October 9, 2002, at Florida State Prison, after having served 10 years on death row.
